We first started growing strawberries in one field in 1976. Gradually, we planted more fields, and now have 4. Broccoli was added in 1980, and other vegetables were gradually added as well. Every year, after the picking season is over, we plow under the existing strawberry plants and prepare the soil for new plants. New plants go into the ground usually in November and grow all winter. We cover the plants in extreme cold to protect them. Strawberries are normally ready for picking in mid-April. Since 1976, produce has been sold from April through December at the farm.
